The Oregon Ambassadors of Music

In July 2009 my daughter will be boarding a plane from Portland, Oregon and leaving the U.S.A for 18 days. A special letter came in the mail for her a few weeks ago. This letter is reserved for a select few musicians in Oregon. This letter was an invitation to join the Oregon Ambassadors of Music on their summer European Concert Tour.

The many opportunities she has been given have come from countless hours of hard work, practice, and dedication that I can only dream of having. Below are the many places she will visit.

London, England

Paris, France

Crans-Montana, Switzerland

Liechtenstein

Austria

Venice, Italy

Rothenburg, Germany

Hi!
My daughter and I are going on that same trip with the Southern Michigan Ambassadors of Music!
I believe the cut off date to sign up was June 16, but if things work out where you can attend, I bet you could be accommodated.
I've been googling info on this trip and came across your blog!
Very cool!

Hey Courtney:
Thanks for stopping by. My daughter will be going with a group from Oregon. If I understand correctly half the the 'states' go one year the other half go the next year. So Oregon and Michigan must be on the same year cycle. I am so happy to hear you'll be going too.

Hey, I'm going on that same trip! Do you have any ideas as to how I could fundraise the money? My family is extremely poor and I have to pay the entire trip on my own...

...and I am from Oregon too! :)

Hi Jennifer:
Congradulations on going on this great trip. What instrument do you play? To raise the money for this trip my daughter has asked all of our friends and family to donate their unwanted items and she had a huge garage sale. Also she has gone to all of our neighbors and family and asked to mow their lawn and pull weeds. We put an ad in the newspaper about her big garage sale and that helped get the word out about her sale. Ask the news paper to donate the ad so it doesn't cost you any money. She also got a summer job and worked 30 hours a week all summer at local coffee shop. I hope this helps, good luck!!

Hi, I'm Dutch and my husband, daughter and I always enjoy the AoM concerts in Crans-Montana (Switzerland) when we're there on our holiday. I'm thrilled to know there will be concerts this summer. When will you be there? One word of advice for all US travellers: most Europeans do speak English, but be sure to ask them if they really do before you start asking your questions. Especially in France people can be very chauvinistic. (I hope I didn't make too many mistakes in this message).

Thank you for stopping by my Blog! I read your comment to my daughter and she was excited to hear you and your family look forward to the concerts. We both appreciate your advice for US travelers. I do not know the exact date the musicians will be in Switzerland, but they leave the USA July 3 and return July 18. I hope they perform while you are their. My daughter will be playing the bassoon (she's the cute one) :)

If Crans-Montana is the 3rd place your daughter will be visiting, it is possible we will be able to hear her concert as we will be leaving on July 11 and I think the musicians stay for 2 nights in every country they go to, so they probably will be in C-M before 7-11. If you happen to know if there is a website of the AoM please put the address in your next comment, so I'll be able to find out more about all the groups coming to Europe this summer.

Hi Maaike,
I do not believe there is an official website for OAM. However, as it gets closer we will start attending meetings and receive more details. When I get an itinerary of the trip I will be sure and post the details on my blog for you. I believe Crans-Montana, Switzerland is the third stop, so I will guess they may be there between the 9th and 11th of July. :)

Congrats! I am going on the trip as well with extended Greek. 3 or so more months away!

Hi, I've just had a look at www.Crans-Montana.ch and in the agenda I saw that the musicians of Oregon will be performing on july 11th. What a shame, we won't be able to see them as we will be returning home on the 11th. I've looked up Oregon in our atlas and it seems to me that you have quite a few mountains, I'm guessing your daughter will like Switzerland because of all the mountains there. The mountains around C-M are about 4.000 meters high, is that about 12.000 feet? Anyway I hope she will enjoy it.

Hey - my name is Lee and I live in London. I was out with my family today when we passed a park, and could hear a band tuning up - we dropped in just as the Oregon Ambassadors of Music began their performance! I thought they were brilliant, and I've just been googling to see if they had a website - and this popped up at the top! So...when you next talk to your daughter, tell her that we really enjoyed the performance. :) I took some photos and shot a video, which I will post on my blog later. This was so wonderful to watch and listen to! Thank you for providing a link to our son while he's on this adventure. The band sounds great!

I know this is an old post. My daughter just received a letter to attend the 2016 trip. Just curious what a trip like this cost. Information meeting not until May.
